Suarez Converts PK, but Chargers Fall 2-1 at South Suburban

South Suburban scored a pair of second-half goals to rally past the Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chargers (3-3-2 overall, 1-3-2 Region IV) got on the board in the 11th minute behind a penalty kick from Erick Suarez (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville), but Sandburg managed just one other shot on goal in the match.
The Bulldogs went down a man in the 42nd minute when their keeper was sent off with a red card, but they managed to tie the game in the 51st minute.
The teams were back even again after Benjamin Zambele (Beardstown, Ill./Beardstown) received his second yellow of the match in the 58th minute. South Suburban then scored the game-winner in the 59th minute.
Felipe Petry (Barao, Brazil/Instituto Estadul de Educacao) made three saves in goal for Sandburg.

The Chargers face Morton at 2 p.m. Saturday in another Region IV contest.
